A Trip Down Memory Lane

I suspect that some of you, watching this space, are wondering if you should feel sad for me as I ‘de-accession’ all the fiber and related tools and equipment amassed by my late husband and myself over the course of two and a half decades.
In truth, I wondered myself what it would feel like as I began this project. But let me reassure you—you should not feel sad on my account.
Each time I open a bin to see what hides within it, a little bubble of happy memories surfaces—memories of Maryland and Rhinebeck, flashbacks to various spinning and weaving conferences and assorted vacations around the world where at least some and often all of the trip was spent in pursuit of more fiber, more yarn, or some exciting textile.
Like many fiber people, we had many more “someday” projects than actual “somedays” to carry them out.
You will see on my fiber and yarn price list that I have given up completely trying to itemize everything. So we’ll keep it simple: In general, there will be nothing priced higher than $2 per ounce and the bulk will be $1 per ounce or less.
A few of the things I turned up today—a largish box of alpaca knitting yarns in various natural colors, an entire bump or the softest, prettiest gray wool roving that you can imagine, a gorgeous jet-black long wool fleece, some lovely white carded Lincoln, a yummy blend of alpaca and tussah top and much more.
